APOLOGIES Sorry I haven't posted anything for some time. Not having a computer can make keeping your blog funkyfreshdope a little tough. I am heading out to the San Diego Comic Con. There will be a report. Oh yes. But first let's rant a little, because after all isn't that why I have this thing? I was driving home the other day coming up a main street in town and of course some piece of crap is blaring his canoe music as loud as possible so that every one can(read, has to) share his choice of music. But then, here comes a squad car crossing at the light. So this moron turns his radio down really low until the cop passes. Then he cranks it up again. This right there proves that these cretins know that what they are doing is wrong. And they continue to intentionally do what is wrong. I don't mean that it is illegal. Of course it is. I mean that it is wrong!! I mean they know that what they are doing will get them a ticket if caught. And if you actually think that they don't know any better, that they haven't thought through their action and the effects on those around them, then they are simply not complete enough as a person to be allowed behind the wheel of a vehicle as complex as a car. If you can't ask yourself why would a police officer give me a ticket for my behavior and come up with your own answer then you definitely should not be behind the wheel of a machine with a combustible fuel engine.

Free Comic Book Day went pretty well. I have to say there was actually a decent crowd the entire time I was sketching. I had fun too. Here are the pics.

DOES WHATEVER A SPIDER CAN! Spent the morning of the 4th at the movies. That's right, Spider-Man 2. Man it was good. At least as good as the first. The fight scenes are amazing. The pacing spectacular! The love elements were super stories! The characters were completely 2099! No really, the fight scenes alone are well worth the price of admission! This is one of those comic book movies that even the straights will enjoy. If a person can get past the idea of a human being with the proportionate strength and the abilities of a spider, they can fully enjoy this. You don't need to have seen the first. They weave in enough plot from the first without beating you over the head with it. I also highly enjoyed the working in of several ancillary characters from the comics. You get to see several characters that would go one to be perennial Spidey antagonists. Give an award to whoever cast J.K. Simmons as J.Jonah Jameson. Greatest example of casting in the history of cinema ever! I loved it. SPOILER WARNING My only minor complaint about the movie is that the romantic climax is so wrenching because you really do feel for these characters. You really do feel bad for Parker deciding to foreswear love with the woman whom he loves and who loves him. Then all that emotional attachment is reversed by the ending of the movie. That is to say Mary Jane's reverse decision about being with Parker. This somewhat deflates the emotional crescendo right before it. But other than that a truly web-of movie!!

I will be sketching for people at Comic Madness in Chino tomorrow for free comic book day. If you are in the area come on by. Speaking of which, at these things people always ask me that tired, old, "where do you get your ideas?". Well, here's how it usually goes;

well, you are in for a treat from my girlfriend MEN ARE FROM MARS (a rebuttal) Would men love to have their women wearing underwear that had holes in it along with the absence of elasticity? Would it be so endearing to have the women to whom you would want a romantic (to score) evening wearing garments that looked like they belong to someone else with a bigger butt? Or do men longingly look at the models of Victoria's Secret and secretly wish their women looked like these models or would even wear such garments so that it would be easier to pretend that they could conceivably be with a Victoria's Secret model? How interesting is it that women take into account the fact that men do not want to shop and will wear their underwear out before they even consider buying new ones to be somewhat acceptable. We women will tolerate the holes and the lack of elastic around the waist band. Will the man be as accepting? I think not. And so is the reason we women will go out and shop to find underwear that will make us (if only in our minds) look sexy enough to arouse you and as well as make ourselves feel and possibly even act sexier? You may not know what we're wearing under our clothes, but when you find out isn't it more fun to find something from Victoria's Secret rather than something from the Nurse's Uniform factory?
