Hope you all like the new look of the site. It has been my intention for a long time to use this for a online portfolio. If you have any comments good or bad feel free to drop me a line. I just wrapped a rush job for a Mazda ad in time to head out of town for a few days. I should be tweeking the site as well as trying to post more beautiful prose when I return.

THE KID GETS AROUND I was talking to a friend probably about the new Star Wars flick and got on the subject of Christopher Lee. I started to realize just how big a slice across geek pop culture this actor cut. Feel free to run over to IMDB but I will give you the highlights. He is probably best known for his Hammer Dracula roles. But did you know he has appeared as both the Frankenstein's Monster and the Mummy? He played Sherlock Holmes as well as Mycroft and Henry Baskervilles. Rumplestilskin, Saruman and Count Dooku (or if you prefer Darth Tyranus). Let's not forget Fu Manchu or the man with the golden gun. He has the dubious privilege of being slightly wounded by a drunk Errol Flynn in a sword fight for the Dark Avenger. Step cousin to Ian Fleming and was the only member of the production or cast to have actually known J.R.R. Tolkien. He is even on the cover of Wings' Band on the Run.

BRRRR. I had a creepy observation the other day. Sponge Bob is already square. That means that he has been harvested from the ocean floor, dried out and shaped. He is no longer a living sponge. And yet he still moves around. Undead sponges hanging out with starfish. Brrr.

ARTIST BY DAY, CRIME FIGHTER BY NIGHT I ran into Scott Shaw! the other day. I was working personal security for an actor who was filming a TV show locally (don't ask). It was in a restaurant and nightclub type of joint. Apparently Scott was bringing his family back from the National Cartoonist Convention in Scottsdale, Az. and stopped for dinner. He was a little zonked out from the long drive. I actually sat next to Scott at a charity we worked for the Ronald McDonald House a few years ago. He asked me what I was doing there and I told him that I am an artist by day and fight crime by night. That was probably the first and last time I could say something like that and not get a strange look from the recipient. I am kicking myself for not using my camera to get a pic of us together outside of a con.
